Asset Price Analysis
The majors turned lower in unison Wednesday after a stretch of grinding gains. Bitcoin settled at $81,802, off 1.6% on the day and 0.6% on the week, though still up 13.7% over 30 days. The pullback brought spot back toward the lower end of the recent range after Tuesday's defense of the $83,000 area failed to hold.
Ether took the heaviest hit, losing the $2,420 handle to close at $2,417.66, down 3.3% intraday and 3.7% over seven days. ETH's underperformance versus BTC on both the daily and weekly windows is consistent with the rotation pattern visible in recent flow data, where bitcoin products have absorbed the bulk of settled inflows.
Solana held up better on a relative basis despite a 2.5% daily decline, closing at $104.20 and preserving a 9.2% weekly gain and 15.6% 30-day advance — the strongest trailing-month print across the majors. XRP slipped 3.0% to $1.33 but remains 8.4% higher over 30 days.
Prior Settled Flows
Issuer reports for Wednesday's session have not yet published; the most recent settled tape is Tuesday, October 13. Spot crypto ETFs absorbed +$170.7M ↑ on net that day, according to InflowScan data, with the bid concentrated in bitcoin products.
- FBTC (Fidelity): +$102.3M ↑
- IBIT (BlackRock): +$65.4M ↑
- MSBT (Morgan Stanley): +$6.7M ↑
- SOLT (Volatility Shares): -$3.7M ↓
XRP coverage for Tuesday ran 8 of 9 funds reported, with XRPK still settling. Wednesday's settled flow picture arrives in tomorrow's pre-market brief and will show whether issuer demand persisted through the price pullback or faded with it.
Stablecoin Flows
Dry-powder aggregates diverged modestly, according to InflowScan data. USDC supply expanded by +$134.5M ↑ to $73.0B, while USDT contracted by -$85.3M ↓ to $183.9B. The net print is close to flat and offers little directional signal about sidelined capital through the session.
Outlook
Attention Thursday turns to whether bitcoin reclaims the $82,000 area or extends lower toward the mid-$80K breakout zone from earlier in the month. For ether, the $2,400 handle becomes the near-term reference after Wednesday's close just above it; a failure to hold would be consistent with continued BTC-over-ETH rotation visible in the settled flow mix. Wednesday's issuer tape, due in tomorrow morning's pre-market brief, is the next hard data point.
