ETF Flows Recap

Spot crypto ETFs logged -$20.6M ↓ in net outflows in the most recent settled session, according to InflowScan data. Full issuer reports for Friday, September 18 have not yet cleared, so Thursday's tape remains the reference point.

Fidelity's FBTC and VanEck's HODL did most of the damage on the bitcoin side, while a pair of small ethereum inflows kept the net figure from widening further. The concentration is narrow enough that it reads more like fund-of-fund rebalancing than directional exit.

  • FETH (Fidelity): +$1.8M ↑
  • ETHV (VanEck): +$1.8M ↑
  • FBTC (Fidelity): -$16.6M ↓
  • HODL (VanEck): -$7.6M ↓

The mild outflow print sits awkwardly against a session in which bitcoin added more than 2%. That gap between tape and flow is consistent with prior episodes of price-led buying happening in spot and perpetual venues before ETF creations catch up — not with distribution.

Market Overview

Risk assets across the majors caught a bid overnight. Bitcoin trades at $78,074, up 2.1% on the day and holding a 13.7% gain over 30 days despite a fractional 0.6% weekly dip. Ethereum sits at $2,505, Solana at $105.66, and XRP at $1.32. Every top-four asset is green on both the 24-hour and 30-day windows.

Asset Price Analysis

Bitcoin's reclaim of the $78,000 handle unwinds most of the mid-week softness that had pulled it toward the $76,000 area. The 30-day picture — up 13.7% — remains the dominant trend; the seven-day chop is noise inside that.

Ethereum's 2.4% bounce leaves it back above $2,500 but still 3.7% lower on the week, the weakest relative performance among the majors. That underperformance versus bitcoin has now stretched to a full month and is consistent with the flow picture, where ETH products have failed to build the kind of sustained bid that IBIT and FBTC saw earlier in the cycle.

Solana is the standout. A 4.0% daily gain, 9.2% weekly, and 15.6% monthly puts SOL at the front of the pack. Spot SOL ETF products have been live for several months now, and InflowScan data through the most recent settled session shows the category running smaller absolute dollar flows than BTC or ETH — meaning price is doing more of the work than issuer creations. XRP grinds higher in its own lane, adding 2.1% and holding a mid-single-digit monthly gain above $1.30.

Stablecoin Flows

USDC supply expanded by roughly +$127M ↑ in the past 24 hours to $73.9B, according to InflowScan data. USDT was essentially flat, shedding -$6.6M ↓ against a $183.2B base. The mild USDC issuance alongside the overnight bounce points to dollar-denominated redeployment into risk rather than fresh sidelining.

Outlook

The immediate watch-item is Friday's settled flow print, which lands in Monday's pre-market brief. A clean net-positive figure would validate the overnight price action as flow-supported; another sub-$50M outflow session would leave the ETF channel as a passive spectator to a spot- and perp-driven move.

On price, bitcoin's ability to hold the $78,000 handle into the weekly close matters more than the marginal high. Ethereum's $2,500 level has flipped between support and resistance repeatedly this month; the weekly close relative to that mark sets the tone for next week's ETH flow narrative. Solana's leadership merits monitoring — sustained outperformance historically pulls follow-on ETF interest, but the flow tape has yet to confirm.
