Asset Price Analysis
Bitcoin finished Thursday at $82,050, a 0.4% session gain that leaves the asset down 0.6% on the week but up 13.7% over the trailing 30 days. The $82,000 handle has now held through two consecutive sessions, with the recent range tightening between the mid-$81,000s and $83,000. Price action remains capped below the local pivot near $84,000 that defined last week's rejection.
Ethereum closed at $2,450.96, up 1.2% intraday but still off 3.7% over the week — the clearest laggard among the majors. ETH/BTC continues to drift lower on a 7-day basis, consistent with the relative-strength picture that has defined the pair since mid-September.
Solana was the standout, up 1.2% on the day and +9.2% ↑ over seven sessions, extending its 30-day gain to +15.6% ↑. The move pushed SOL to $105.57, its highest close in roughly three weeks. XRP added 0.4% to $1.34 and is up 1.7% on the week.
The intraday read: majors firm, Solana leading, Ethereum lagging. The dispersion suggests rotation within the complex rather than a directional risk shift.
Stablecoin Flows
USDC supply contracted by -$410M ↓ over the past 24 hours to $72.7 billion, while USDT shed -$223M ↓ to $183.7 billion, according to InflowScan data. The combined $633 million drawdown is the sharpest single-day stablecoin contraction in roughly two weeks and runs counter to the firm spot tape.
Supply contraction while prices hold is historically associated with on-chain redemptions tied to settlement or OTC flow, rather than fresh risk deployment. The signal is modest but worth tracking into Friday — persistent stablecoin burn alongside flat spot pricing has, in prior episodes, preceded tighter liquidity on the derivatives side.
Prior-Session ETF Context
Issuer reports for Thursday's session have not yet settled. The most recent settled tape, Wednesday, October 14, showed spot crypto ETFs posting -$378M ↓ in net outflows, according to InflowScan data, with the redemption concentrated in three funds: Fidelity's FBTC at -$155.5M ↓, BlackRock's ETHA at -$113.4M ↓, and BlackRock's IBIT at -$113.0M ↓. Fidelity's FETH was the only product to log a meaningful inflow at +$8.1M ↑.
Bitcoin fund coverage was partial — 11 of 12 funds reported, with MSBT still settling — and XRP coverage was 8 of 9 with XRPK outstanding. The Wednesday outflow provided the backdrop for Thursday's price action, and the fact that spot held firm despite the prior session's exit is consistent with absorption rather than cascade.
Outlook
Watch three data points into Friday. First, the Thursday settled flow print, due pre-market, will clarify whether Wednesday's redemption was a one-session rebalance or the start of a sequence. Second, the $82,000 BTC handle: holding it through Asian hours would reinforce the two-session floor; losing it opens the door to a retest of $80,000. Third, Solana's follow-through — a close above $108 would extend the rotation signal, while a reversal would frame this week's move as a bounce rather than a trend.
Stablecoin supply direction is the quieter tell. Another day of combined USDT/USDC contraction while spot holds would tighten the setup; a reversal to net issuance would ease it.
