Market Overview

Bitcoin closed Thursday's session at $63,400, down 0.1% on the day and 0.6% on the week, holding within a tight range as majors mostly firmed. Ethereum added 0.4% to $1,886.48, Solana rose 0.8% to $76.25, and XRP ticked up 0.3% to $1.01. The tape read as consolidation rather than repositioning, with Solana's +9.2% ↑ weekly gain the standout in an otherwise flat majors board.

Asset Price Analysis

The session's story was compression at the top of the market. Bitcoin has now traded in a narrow band around the $63,400 handle for several sessions, with the 30-day still up +13.7% ↑ — a reminder that recent chop sits inside a larger constructive move rather than reversing it. Resistance overhead sits near the round $65,000 level; support has held above $62,500 on intraday pullbacks.

Ethereum's 0.4% advance masked a softer weekly picture, with ETH still -3.7% ↓ over seven days. The $1,900 level continues to act as near-term resistance, and ETH's underperformance versus BTC on a 7-day basis is consistent with the ETH-ETF flow softness seen through most of August.

Solana was the day's outlier and the week's leader. At $76.25, SOL is up +15.6% ↑ on the month, the strongest 30-day print among the four majors. XRP added 0.3% to hold the dollar handle, extending its weekly gain to +1.7% ↑.

ETF Flows (Prior Settled Session)

Issuer reports for Thursday have not yet published; the most recent settled tape is Wednesday, August 12, when spot crypto ETFs logged -$71.7M ↓ in net outflows. BTC and ETH funds reported fully; SOL products came in at 7 of 11 issuers reporting and XRP at 2 of 9, with the remaining issuers still settling. The Wednesday session provided the flow backdrop that carried into Thursday's flat close.

Redemptions were concentrated in bitcoin products:

  • FBTC (Fidelity): -$46.8M ↓
  • EZBC (Franklin): -$16.5M ↓
  • IBIT (BlackRock): -$14.3M ↓

On the inflow side, the tape was thin. BlackRock's ETHA absorbed +$7.3M ↑, and Teucrium's XXRP added +$0.9M ↑ — the only two products to register net creations of note, according to InflowScan data. That FBTC dominated the outflow column while IBIT saw a smaller redemption points to issuer-specific rebalancing at Fidelity rather than a broad bitcoin-ETF exit.

Stablecoin Flows

USDT supply expanded by roughly +$22.8M ↑ to $183.0B while USDC contracted -$145.9M ↓ to $72.1B, per InflowScan data. The split is consistent with the divergence that has run through much of the summer — offshore-tilted liquidity building, onshore stablecoin float easing — and offers little signal of a fresh dry-powder buildup ahead of the next leg.

Outlook

The overnight ETF print, due to settle before Friday's open, is the next data point. Whether Wednesday's $71.7M outflow was a one-session Fidelity rebalance or the start of a shorter bitcoin-fund pullback will be clearer with Thursday's issuer tape.

Levels to watch into Friday: BTC's ability to defend the $62,500 area on any further weakness, ETH's contest with $1,900 as near-term resistance, and whether SOL's monthly momentum carries it back toward the $80 handle. On the flow side, ETHA's small solo inflow bears watching — a second consecutive session of ETH-fund creations against BTC-fund redemptions would mark a rotation worth flagging.
