Market Overview

Friday's session delivered one of the quieter closes of the month. Bitcoin finished at $81,457, flat on the day and down 0.6% on the week, holding comfortably above the $80,000 handle it reclaimed earlier in the month. Ethereum added 0.6% to $2,403, Solana rose 0.3% to $103.98, and XRP closed unchanged at $1.31. The intraday range was narrow across majors, with no asset in the top four printing a daily move larger than 1%.

The calm tape stands in contrast to the ETF picture from Thursday's settled session, which recorded the largest single-day outflow in several weeks. That divergence — flat prices against meaningful fund redemptions — is consistent with issuer-level rebalancing rather than a broader directional shift.

Asset Price Analysis

Bitcoin's third consecutive flat-to-modestly-negative close keeps the asset rangebound between roughly $81,000 support and the $83,000-$84,000 zone that capped the mid-month rally. The 30-day gain still stands at 13.7%, so the week-over-week drift reads more as consolidation than reversal.

Ethereum's reclaim of $2,400 is the first constructive technical signal in a week that saw ETH down 3.7% at its lows. The 24-hour gain was modest, but holding the handle into the close matters more than the magnitude. Solana remains the standout among majors, up 9.2% over seven sessions and 15.6% over 30, with Friday's close extending the recent trend of outperformance. XRP continues to grind, holding its 30-day gain of 8.4% without printing a notable intraday move.

Resistance for Bitcoin sits at the prior week's $83,500 high. For ETH, the next test is the $2,450-$2,500 zone that acted as support earlier in October before giving way.

ETF Flows — Prior Settled Session

Issuer reports for Friday's session have not yet published; Thursday, October 22 is the most recent fully settled day. Spot crypto ETFs logged -$568.2M ↓ in aggregate net outflows that session, according to InflowScan data, with BTC and ETH funds driving the entire figure.

Redemptions were concentrated in the two largest issuers:

  • IBIT (BlackRock): -$263.7M ↓
  • FBTC (Fidelity): -$225.5M ↓
  • ETHA (BlackRock): -$79.0M ↓

Smaller products absorbed modest inflows against the tide:

  • BITB (Bitwise): +$19.2M ↑
  • FETH (Fidelity): +$13.0M ↑
  • ARKB (ARK Invest): +$9.8M ↑

IBIT and FBTC together accounted for roughly $489 million of the redemption total — a concentration pattern historically associated with model-portfolio rebalancing or single-allocator unwinds rather than broad retail flight. The fact that Friday's price action held flat despite the Thursday redemption pulse points to spot-market absorption of the supply. For XRP products, 8 of 9 funds reported, with XRPK still settling.

Stablecoin Flows

Combined USDT and USDC supply contracted by roughly $707 million over the past 24 hours, according to InflowScan data, with USDC down $600.9 million to $72.0 billion and USDT down $106.5 million to $182.5 billion. The USDC drawdown is the more notable of the two given the smaller base, and the directional pull on both aggregates suggests dry powder is not building into the weekend.

Outlook

Monday morning's Pre-Market will carry the first look at Friday's settled ETF flows, which will determine whether Thursday's $568 million redemption was a one-session event or the start of a pattern. The key test: did Friday's flat tape mask a second day of outflows, or did spot absorption show up in the flow data as well?

Levels to watch next week: BTC support at $80,000 and resistance at $83,500; ETH's ability to hold the $2,400 reclaim; and whether SOL's relative strength continues or fades. Stablecoin supply trends will matter — a continued contraction in USDC would be consistent with capital leaving the on-chain system, while stabilization would suggest the weekend drawdown was transactional.
